Being a Scientist and being and Entrepreneur have many things in common:
you must be of an inquisitive and independent mind, you have to make
plans, and then organize and collect resources, commonly limited, frequently
reduced to yourself, and drive them towards your goals. The entrepreneur
as the scientist is thereafter faced with an adventure not unlike Christopher
Columbus setting out into the unknown. Yet the road from academia to
business and commerce is full of surprises, some less pleasant than
others. However, the fact that nothing is more permanent than a change
by discovery is a kindly reward after combining the natural adventure
of Science and Entrepreneurship!
Applied Inventions, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that was formed
in March 2003 with three main objectives:
to encourage students to further their studies in general sciences,
mathematics and engineering disciplines through innovation and entrepreneurial
motivation;
to create entrepreneurial science programs to empower scientists,
educators and students as entrepreneurs and give them the skill set
to start new high-tech businesses and grow them; and
to provide services, programs and facilities that collectively provide
a supportive environment with business management assistance, shared
resources along with full IT capabilities to spin-out companies from
the university environment.
We hope that you will take the opportunity to find out more about Applied
Invention, Inc. and work with us in advancing entrepreneurship in the
science and engineering fields!

Entrepreneurial Breakthroughs
Do you think that educational approaches that are more
effective in providing mastery of the real body of educational materials
could actually tend to handicap a student's ability to "think outside
of the box" ?
How do we convince young people to consider a career in science, mathematics
and engineering when we prepare them to be lawyers and consultants,
instead?
How do we convince the youngster to pursue a career
in science, mathematics and engineering in the face of of the ever-present
lures of the sports and entertainment fields?
Applied Inventions, Inc. believes that it is increasingly
appropriate for the educational system to provide a place for the prospective
entrepreneurs, but to design for them a program that avoids the inculcation
of standardized and unimaginative ways of thinking.
